Frequently Asked Questions

Below, you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions, covering everything from payment options and facilities to what to wear for your first class.

After that, we’ve included a section introducing the martial arts classes we offer, with a brief overview of each discipline to help you choose the right one for your goals.

I'm not sure if I want to buy a membership without trying it out. What can I do?

You can attend one of our classes as a trial session for just £5 to see if it’s for you. If you’d like to continue, we offer various options, including monthly memberships (unlimited classes or 2x per week) as well as class packs.

I've never done any form of martial arts before. Can I join?

Absolutely! We welcome all levels, from complete beginners to experienced fighters. If you’re new to martial arts, we recommend starting with our Fundamental classes to master the basics.

How do I pay for and book sessions?

You can sign up on our website by selecting the membership or class pack that suits you. Once registered, you can book your chosen classes using our app (Amin Martial Arts – available on the App Store and Google Play). Please ensure you pre-book classes to guarantee your spot.

It looks painful! Will I get hurt?

Our members are disciplined, and our coach ensures all training and sparring is carried out safely. While you might get the occasional bump or bruise, it’s no different to any other combat sport.

Do I need special equipment?

For your trial session, we provide everything you need: gloves, shin guards, pads, skipping ropes, and other equipment. If you become a member, we recommend purchasing your own gloves, shin guards, and hand wraps for training. These are available at the gym. For sparring sessions, please bring your own mouthguard, groin guard (for males), and 14/16oz gloves.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable and flexible clothing that allows a full range of movement. Avoid clothes with zippers, hooks, or buttons as these can scratch or injure your training partners. Shoes are not permitted on the mat, and all piercings and jewellery should be removed before participating.

Can I pay day-to-day?

Yes. If you only attend occasionally or are visiting, you can purchase a day pass.

Does the gym have changing rooms and showers?

Yes, the gym is equipped with men’s and women’s changing rooms and showers.

Is there parking available?

Yes, parking is available directly outside the gym.
